Heineken used to struggle with a lot of problems that are unavoidable with wooden pallets: high repair costs, dirt from chips and splinters, increased weight when they are wet, and not least of all higher disposal costs. The plan was to eliminate these problems by using plastic pallets. Overall, the company was hoping for the following improvements:
- Reduced costs per cycle
- Significantly greater durability
- Improved process reliability
- Maximum occupational safety
- Simplified cleaning
- Lowest possible tare weight
