Pallets in the Meat Processing Industry: There is hardly any logistical challenge greater than transporting perishable goods. All companies that work with producing, processing, or distributing food products have to strictly adhere to the HACCP guidelines on food security monitoring.

The Requirements

It doesn't always make sense to return used pallets, for instance when the distance is too great. In those cases, shippers opt for inexpensive, safe export pallets that, alongside the standardized H1 Hygienic pallet, therefore also have to fulfill hygienic requirements.

In addition, there are other factors that determine their use in the meat processing and exporting industry:

  • The pallets' nestability reduces transportation and storage costs.
  • From packaging the products to arrival with the recipient, no repackaging is necessary.

It is not always necessary to use expensive hygienic food pallets to transport meat products. Plastic pallets made of recycled materials can be used at the point where there is no direct contact between meat and the pallet.

  • Plastic pallets are not subject to the ISPM 15 standard for wood usage. Expensive heat treatments and bureaucratic documentation do not apply.
  • The low investment cost of a pallet made of PO recycled material is easy on the balance sheet.
